Many instructional assistants, secretaries, clerks, substitute teachers and other employees who have not completed requirements for an undergraduate degree may still be interested in joining the teaching profession. Several web sites provide valuable information to persons thinking about teaching, and others provide information on tuition assistance. Please take time to view these sites and to talk to others who have made the decision to teach for additional information and support.

Choices and options available for paraprofessionals interested in either the NCLB requirements or teaching.

The Northside community college offers many associate degree programs, including an A.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies which may be used to complete teacher certification requirements in a four year college.

Transition to Teachers provides financial assistance to Northside ISD para-professionals to complete their bachelor’s degree and teacher certification requirements.

The Adult Degree Completion Program offers a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies degree leading to Elementary Teacher Certification. Tuition is discounted 40% and significant financial aid assistance is available. Email sabo@uiwtx.edu for more information.
