Teaching American History Collaborative

Ensuring effective teaching of American History is at the heart of the Northside Independent School District's (NISD) Teaching American History grant, 'Our country 'tis of thee: Northside ISD American History Collaborative.' In partnership with Texas State University and the Smithsonian Center for Education and Museum Studies, the NISD 'Our country 'tis of thee American History Collaborative's goals in turn support the overall objectives of the US Department of Education.

NISD's Grant

The purpose of the TAH Grant is to promote the teaching of traditional American history in elementary and secondary schools as a separate academic subject. Grants are used to improve the quality of history instruction by supporting professional development for teachers of American history.
