A. Active Record - A record which is regularly referred to and required for current use.
B. Inactive Record - A record that does not have to be readily available, but which must be kept for legal or historical purposes.
C. Original Record - A primary or first generation record from which copies may subsequently be made.
D. Copy or Non-essential Record - A record listed on the records retention and disposition schedules for routine destruction as it has no predictable value to the organization after its initial use.
E. Permanent Record - Any local government record for which the retention period on a records retention schedule issued by the commission is given as permanent.
F. Retention Schedule - A document issued by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission under authority of Subchapter J, Chapter 441, Government Code, establishing mandatory retention periods for local government records.
G. Unscheduled Record - Records for which no ultimate disposition has yet been determined.
