Hello Booster Member,

Yes, you are automatically a Booster member, if your son/daughter is in any sport or spirit organization such as Boys or Girls, Freshman, JV or Varsity, in Pep Squad, the Fillies or a Cheerleader.

Welcome to the PROUDEST CLUB on campus, the Athletics/Spirit Booster Club.

What does a Booster Club Member do? First on the list is to support our kids, second is to raise funds to offset expenditures that are not covered by the district budget, and third is to have fun.

Here are some of the things that we do…

  • We do concessions at all Northside events like football, basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, etc. (by the way this is one of our major fundraisers and it lasts all year long).
  • We sell Mustang Merchandise all year long and at all venues that we can such as school lunches, school events, and sporting events.
  • We help coordinate benefits, golf tournaments, BBQ’s and banquets.
  • We work together with the other clubs on campus.
  • We put together the football program.
  • We also sponsor other events throughout the year.

How much would I have to do? As much or as little as two or three events for the whole year.

How much does it cost to be a member? Nothing, there are no membership dues.

Do I have to come to the meetings? It is not mandatory, but we encourage you to attend the meetings so that you will have a voice and a vote on issues that come up during the year. We also make decisions on how the funds that we raise are put to use and find out about upcoming events on campus.

I work during the day or I do not have a lot of time to volunteer, how can I help? It is not how much time you volunteer but maybe WHAT you volunteer. Are you a skilled professional like a carpenter, plumber, and electrician? Maybe you know someone that can supply food, are you a computer wiz? Can you make phone calls, distribute flyers, sell items in the evenings or on a Saturday? Let us know who you know and maybe we will make the connection.

What goals does the Booster Club set for this year? We would like to offer more scholarships to graduating seniors, replace outdated and worn equipment, and start a memorial fund for current and former students and faculty.

Who can I contact for more information? Call Nancy Medrano, President, at 286-4983; Willie Ramos, 1st President, at 673-2208; Rosenbert Hernandez, 2nd Vice President, at 670-8850; Roberta Ramos, Secretary, at 673-2208; Vivianne Almaraz, Treasurer, at 675-7181; or Josie Guerrero, Concessionaire, at 674-4379.

To reach our goals we need your help. Please come to our next meeting or just give us a call to offer your help. We hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,
Nancy Medrano
John Jay Athletic/Spirit Booster Club
