A.V.I.D . is a College preparatory program that helps students become successful in high school and continue that success through College.
This attention to success is done by recruiting students with potential to succeed
Students are
- scheduled in teamed core honors classes with rigorous curriculum that builds a foundation for Honors/Pre-Advanced Placement and Advanced Placement courses
- offered an A.V.I.D. elective class that concentrates on organizational and study skills, college entrance requirements, career and college expectations and investigation, tutoring, test strategies, vocabulary strengthening and organizational readiness. The elective course is offered to students all four years of high school. Along with all skill building, upper classmen create a portfolio of college, scholarship and financial aid applications.
AVID OBJECTIVES:
• To provide academic instruction and other support to students and to prepare them for eligibility to four year colleges and universities.
• To give students college level entry skills.
• To increase the "coping skills" of program participants.
• To motivate program students to seek a college education.
• To increase the participants' level of career awareness.
