Spirit
Organization, Dance, General Information: The purpose is to promote school spirit and support other teams/clubs/organizations. Members learn cheers and dance routines which could help prepare for future tryouts to become cheerleaders or dance team members. The Fillies Dance Team is an organization dedicated to
the practice and performance of group precision dance. New member tryouts
are held in March and anyone who has one year in a Jay spirit organization
(Silver Spurs Pep Squad, Cheerleaders, or current Fillies) may tryout.
The Fillies perform at pep rallies, varsity football and basketball
games, and at various competition throughout the school year. How Can You Join?: You only need to apply, but no one is turned away Meeting Time/Location: Practice during 2nd, 6th
block, and after school twice a week. The Fillies have class every day
during 1st/5th Block and morning practice at 7:30 during football (September-November)
and competition (January-March) seasons. We have a beautiful dance studio
for our practice space! Major Events: Perform at some football and basketball games, and dance competitions. Participate in fundraising activities and in community services throughout the year. Competitions this year are on February 27-28 at the Alamo Convocation Center and the Spring Show on April 17th. Accomplishments/Awards: Grand Champion Evaluation at MA Dance Camp; hopefully more to come in a few weeks |
