Welcome to John Jay’s Social Studies Website. The Social Studies Department is committed to assisting every student in developing an understanding of who they are in the physical, psychological, cultural, and historical world around them.

We are proud of all 26 of our teachers in the department. You may see their names along with what subject they teach on the “staff” page. Some teachers have classroom websites in which you can get more information about their subject matter and classes.

We are also committed to providing an environment that is conducive for students to do well on the April TAKS tests. Each teacher in every Social Studies subject will be either presenting or reviewing the TAKS subject matter. The 11th graders have 4 TAKS test to master (one being in Social Studies) as a requirement for the state of Texas to be able to graduate. We believe that every student here at John Jay that has a will to pass the tests will be able to because of the commitment of the teachers.
