
7th Grade Computer Literacy
Computer Literacy is taught by Ms. Lisa Hahne, Ms. Wilma Graves-Warner, and Ms. Lauren West. All 7th Grade students take this class for one semester. In this course, students build on their elementary technology application knowledge and skills. They learn and improve upon their keyboarding, word processing, database, spreadsheet, multimedia presentation, desktop publishing, and telecommunications skills. The course emphasizes a project-based approach in which students create products to solve relevant and real-world problems across the content areas.
This is a yearlong course intended for eighth grade students who have excelled in the seventh grade Computer Literacy course. The Advanced Computer Technologies course utilizes project-based instructional units that integrate the use of several applications to complete one thematic project. Projects will enhance and reinforce students' understanding of eighth grade core content concepts and standards. Students will learn and apply a variety of software tools related to multimedia production, video and sound production, Web mastering, distance learning, word processing, desktop publishing, database, and spreadsheet. Students will use these technology tools to support foundational knowledge, information acquisition, problem solving, and communication.
