students' needs so all students can make progress and thrive in
school. This is a large department consisting of 12teachers 10
instructional assistants, as well as a speech therapist and an
associate school psychologist. Ms.

is the Special Education
Disseminator. Ms.

Therapist, and Ms. Donna McCormick is the Associate School
Psychologist. The following programs are currently
available.
- ALE This program is for students who
have moderate to severe disabilities and need functional and
practical life skills. ALE is taught by Ms.

Babin-Campbell.
- LEVEL 4 Classes in math,
English, and reading are offered with this program. Students who
are placed in these classes typically are 2-3 grade levels behind
their peers. Structured reading programs are taught in Level 4
classes. One main goal is to strengthen student skills so they
will be able to return to the regular classroom.
- LEVEL 5 Students with severe
behavioral problems are placed in this program. In addition to
academics, the Level 5 program also offers Social Skills classes,
Resource classes, and a Behavior Management Class.
- Keeping Every Youth Successful KEYS
classrooms house the Inclusion, Content Mastery Classroom, and
Resource programs. Inclusion services assist students in
succeeding in the general education classroom, either through
direct or consultative services. The Content Mastery Classroom
(CMC) program is available to support instruction for all classes
including electives and Physical Education. Students are sent to
CMC by their classroom teacher to be retaught concepts and
for special instructional modifications. CMC is open for
students before and after school, as well as during the normal
school day. The Resource program is offered to students who cannot
manage all five core subjects for either academic, behavioral, or
organizational reasons.,
