Happening in First Grade?
First grade is a pretty exciting year in music.
Most of the children are used to school and know what to expect in music. We begin the year by singing familiar songs and learning new ones. (check out the Kindergarten page)
We like to play singing games that allows the songs to be repeated over and over.
So...if you hear your child singing a song they learned at school over and over at home... just think.... I've heard it MORE!We have also been concentrating on keeping a steady beat to music. Keeping the steady beat is what you do when you discover your foot is tapping to some music. Most music has steady beat, but actually there is some music that does not have a fixed or regular beat!
We are beginning to compare and contrast musical pieces using creative movement to discover...

- fast and slow music
