This nine weeks we are wrapping up counting, collecting and measuring and introducing addition and subtraction to the students.  To meet the promotion standards for Kinder your child must be able to demonstrate an addition and subtraction problem.  They do not have to remember all of the addition facts.

Don't forget that there are lots of fun ways to practice addition and subtraction at home and while you are out.

Here are a few to help you:

  • Count cars.  I see 1 red car and 2 blue cars. How many cars do I see total?  OR I see 2 red cars and 1 drove away. How many cars are left?
  • Count toys in the room and add them together.
  • Add plates, forks, spoons and glasses while you are setting the table.  When cleaning up after dinner, count the plates and take one away. How many do you have left?
