- AUP stands for Acceptable Use Policy. You and your parents signed a form
at the beginning of the year explaining the policy for Northside.
- It gives the rules of Internet use for students during school and school
sponsored activities.

- Students may
- Open, view, and change their own files.
- Use computer for school activities and lessons.
- Use computer if teacher is in the room monitoring.
- Go only to sites given by their teacher.
- Students may not
- Delete, open, view , changes someone else’s files.
- Play games that are not educational or approved by teacher.
- Use computer if a teacher is not
present (this includes AR).
- Use a search engine. unless required you are under a teacher’s
directions.

- Students should
- Give credit when borrowing photos or information from an Internet site.
- Get permission from a teacher before downloading a picture or word file.
- Students should never
- Copy words, pictures, or clipart from a site without giving credit to
where they found it. (Plagiarism)
- Never download music, games, or videos.
- Visit non educational sites such as MTV, cartoon network, etc..
- Share their passwords (AR) with a friend.

- You should always be polite when visiting with others over the Internet.
- Never use all caps. This means you are shouting.
- Do not use inappropriate language and if someone uses it with you tell a
teacher immediately.

- Software from home may not be used on school computers.
- Students need to get permission before printing anything.

- If you go to a site and notice something inappropriate…
- Click the Back button immediately.
- Raise your hand and tell a teacher.

- Never give your
- Full name to anyone on the Internet (unless your teacher requires you
for your assignment).
- Password to anyone on the Internet.
- Personal information such as home address , phone number, and photos.
- School name unless a teacher directs you to.

- You need to understand the ultimately you are responsible for your
actions while on the computer. You can not blame anyone else.

- 1st offense
- A verbal warning.
- 2nd offense
- Parent and administration notified.
- Lose privileges for 3 weeks.
- 3rd offense
- Lose privileges for the entire year.
