Lewis Arrival
As a service to our parents, we will have someone on duty at 6:45 a.m. NISD does not expect us to have anyone on duty until 7:15 a.m. It is NOT SAFE for you to drop your child off before 6:45 a.m. There is no one on duty, and therefore not a safe environment for your child. Please understand that dropping your child off before that time is leaving your child alone. We ask that you repsect our request. |
During morning arrival, Outdoor Safety Patrols and supervising staff will be available to assist children in the front driveway loop and hallways starting at 7:15 am. Students arriving after 7:15 am may go directly to their designated hallway spot or to the cafeteria to eat breakfast. Students arriving between 6:45 am and 7:15 am will be required to sit in the supervised hallway foyer area. |
Between 7:25 and 7:40 am, students may be dropped off in the bus driveway. (This is after our buses have arrived and gone.) If a bus has arrived late and is still in the circle, please wait behind the bus. Doors will NOT be opened until 7:15 a.m. Please deliver your child to the front entrance if it is before 7:15 a.m. At 7:40 am, the entrance doors in and near the cafeteria are locked as our duty teachers need to go to their classrooms. Students dropped off after 7:40 am must use the front school entrance. |
Students arriving after 7:45 a.m., need to have a tardy slip. The teacher will need the slip before the child can come to class. |
After 7:45 am, we ask parents to sign in the front office. At 7:45 a.m. the administration will do a sweep of the campus to check restrooms, hallways, etc. for people who have not signed in at the office. This is not to be unfriendly, it is so that we know who is in the school and we can keep your child safe. If we do not clear the building, we can not be sure that an unauthorized individual is not remaining behind. |
For the safety of the students, dropping off and picking up unescorted students in the parking lots is strictly prohibited. |

Lewis Dismissal
Afternoon pick up will take place in the front of the school for all students in grades 1-3 and any 4th or 5th grade students with a sibling. Those students in 4th and 5th grade ONLY that do not have siblings may be picked up in the bus loop. We will have teachers on duty in that area. |
Dismissal will begin a few minutes before 2:45 p.m. Parent pick up students will sit daily at their designated grade level spots. Older siblings will wait at the primary end of the parent pick up area. Kinder students will wait in a designated classroom at dismissal. Siblings of Kinder students will sit in the Kinder hallway to wait for parents to pick them up when they get their Kinder child. |
We have staff on duty in front of the school until 3:15 p.m. Traffic is much lighter after 3:00 p.m. and you may prick up your child as late as 3:15 p.m. Any students being picked up later than 3:15 p.m., must be signed out in the school office. |
While in the front driveway or the bus loop, parents are asked to pull forward as far as possible. Staff will assist students to the cars. |
Parents often comment that it would be helpful if we directed traffic on Seascape. By law, we are not allowed to direct traffic on a city street. Therefore, we ask that you are always courteous and considerate of other drivers, especially during heavy traffic times. |
Any changes made regarding your child's dismissal schedule must be made and cleared before 2:00 p.m. It is difficult to give messages to students near the dismissal time. We appreciate your compliance with this procedure. |
Parents are asked to wait outside of the building when picking up students. This will allow for out foyer to remain congestion free while walking students out of the front doors and this will keep your child safe. |
Bus and daycare students will be dropped off at their supervised areas. In order to ensure the safety of the walkers, they will be walked out to the end of the appropriate campus sidewalks at approximately 2:55 p.m. |
