Preparing Students for the Future
Lewis receives a Department of Defense Grant

NISD was awarded a $1,450,800 grant from the Department of Defense. The grant, which spans a three-year period, is part of the Education Activity’s Promoting Student Achievement at Schools Impacted by Military Force Structure Changes grant program. The premise of the program is to create a “college bound culture” and prepare all students – military and civilian – with higher-order thinking skills that will help them succeed in Advanced Placement (AP) courses and become college ready/career ready.

The six NISD schools that are experiencing significant military-affiliated student growth and who will benefit from the grant include Forester, Galm, Lewis, Murnin, and Ott elementary schools, and Luna MS.
