|Meet the Lewis Music Teachers|
Mr. Joe Quinlan
It is a pleasure and an honor to have the opportunity to bring music into the lives of your children! Although it is my first year here at Lewis, I have taught High School Music in Canada , Middle School Music and College Music Programs in California for a total of ten years. Working with elementary level students here in Texas is the most joyful experience of them all!
We have 2 kids -Vaughn, who will be attending Lewis this year, and Rachell who we adopted from Ethiopia in 2006. I enjoy playing and swimming with them. My wife Sandie is a wonderful hairstylist so we opened a new hair salon in Helotes this summer called Jabez Salon. I help out there by doing the marketing and overseeing the business side of it. I play Bass professionally at Park Hills Baptist Church and worship with Mosaic Vinyard Church. My hobby is to ride my 2003 Harley Davidson Road King. I haven't played golf in a long time but I really love the game.
Gabriela Montoya-Stier received her Bachelors in Music Education from University of New Mexico and her Master's Degree in Music Education from Indiana University, Bloomington. She studied Kodàly Levels I, II, and III from Dr. Jean Sinor and Dr. Alan Strong. She has also completed her Orff Levels I and II from Trinity University and has a certificate in Music in Early Childhood from Baldwin Wallace. Mrs. Montoya-Stier is excited about her upcoming publication, El Patio de Mi Casa.
Mrs. Montoya-Stier enjoys spending time at home with her husband James. They enjoy reading, watching movies, and working on the garden.
Mrs. Montoya-Stier loves teaching children music. She believes that the music curriculum should emphasize musical literacy through students' active participation which include singing, chanting, instrument playing, listening, and movement.
