Promotion Standards
NISD Promotion Standards
STUDENTS THAT DO NOT PASS THE READING AND/OR MATH TAKS TESTS AND/OR NISD PROMOTION STANDARDS WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR PLACEMENT IN 6TH GRADE OR RETENTION IN 5TH GRADE.
ACADEMIC CLASSES
*70% or higher in Reading and/or Math classes
MATH
*recall multiplication and division facts through tens in 10 minutes or less
*explain problem solving process using pictures, number sentences and words
*select and apply the appropriate operation(s) to solve problems using key actions
LANGUAGE ARTS
*fifth grade writing must receive a score of 3 or 4
TAKS
*pass the Reading TAKS test (3 opportunities)
*pass the Math TAKS test (3 opportunities)
