It is exciting to be able to share our great school with so many online visitors.
Locke Hill has a long tradition of providing students an outstanding education. The students, parents, and staff are like a three-legged stool, one part cannot stand without the support of the other two. The successes that we have enjoyed throughout the years can be attributed to a dedicated, flexible, and caring staff, who is always willing to go the extra mile, and the constant support of our PTA.
One of our greatest strengths is Locke Hill's family atmosphere with a child-centered philosophy which facilitates the academic, social, emotional and physical development of each child. When entering our school, one is drawn to the child-centered environment with displays of student art work and academic accomplishments. Our inviting courtyard contains classroom gardens, tables, and benches for our "outdoor classroom," and a picnic area complete with birdhouses and bird feeders.
The school climate at Locke Hill is conducive to effective teaching, teacher growth and recognition, and the academic regimen is demanding while encouraging independent thought, initiative and action.
Our school mascot is the lion, and our school motto, written by a former student, says it best...
"WE JUST CAN'T HIDE OUR LION PRIDE!"

Mission Statement
Locke Hill Elementary School is dedicated to creating an environment in which students, staff, and community demonstrate mutual respect and a positive attitude toward education.
At Locke Hill,
- we provide a challenging curriculum with the flexibility to meet the needs of each student academically, emotionally, physically and socially;
- the students are given the opportunity to build self esteem and develop an intrinsic motivation;
- we believe that a quality education requires the mastery of the basic skills, taught through developmentally appropriate methods;
- goals are established and achieved through open communication, regular attendance, responsibility, positive modeling and active participation in the learning process.
Locke Hill Elementary School, with the support of parents and the community, provides its students with a strong foundation for life-long learning.
