In this task, you will take a virtual field trip at the Glacier National Park in Montana to learn how glaciers have changed the earth's surface. Read all of the steps first, then go back and start the activity.

1

Go to the website found at Glacier National Park.
You will need Real Player downloaded on your computer to hear the audio part of the virtual field trip. If Real Player is already on your computer, click the blue Real Player button near the top right corner of the screen to start the field trip.
If you do not have Real Player on your computer, ask your teacher for help and go to RealPlayer.com to download it now.

2

This field trip is about twenty-five minutes in length, but you only need to listen to 15 minutes of it. Watch the timer on the RealPlayer window to see when your 15 minutes is up and you can click the stop button and close the window. Make sure to take notes in your science journal on important facts as you view the virtual field trip. These notes will be important to help you summarize what you learned.

3

"Get the Gist" - After viewing the field trip, you should use your notes to summarize how glaciers change the land in twenty words or less. This should be typed up in Microsoft Word.
After typing up the summary, add sentences about other interesting facts you learned from this virtual field trip.
Put you name on the paper and then print and give your paper to your teacher.
