The mission of the John Marshall High School Academic Support Programs is three-fold:

  1. to provide services to support student academic success;
  2. to collaborate with academic teachers, programs, and academic departments to aid in on-time graduation; and
  3. to develop parent and community connections to assist in developing academic success and post-high school educational opportunities for all Marshall students.

Attendance Retrieval - The Attendance Retrieval Program gives students with excessive absences (who were denied course credit) the opportunity to retrive the lost credit by making up attendance hours after school.

Credit Retrieval - The Credit Retrieval Program provides the opportunity for students to retrieve core academic course credits which they failed with a 60-69 grade average. The Credit Retrieval Center is open before school, at lunch or during study hall periods in L215.

Graduation Coach - The Graduation Coach provides assistance to senior students to ensure on-time graduation. The Graduation Coach identifies seniors with attendance concerns, is a point of contact for parents and teachers, and assists in keeping students focused on graduation. The Graduation Coach assists senior students who are experiencing academic difficulties. He also assistas in dropout prevention and recovery.

Ninth Grade Success Advisor- The Ninth Grade Success Advisor provides assistance to freshman students and parents to ensure that 9th grade students stay on track for graduation. The Ninth Grade Success Advisor assists in successful transitioning of students from middle to high school. She provides a point of contact for parents and teachers.

Student Success Advisor - The Student Success Advisor coordinates the JMHS College Going Culture Initiative by providing students and parents with college workshops, assistance with college admissions and financial aid, and group presentations to ensure a successful transition from high school to college.

Learning Center - The JMHS Learning Center provides tutoring in core academic areas. Tutors include teachers, college students and peers. The Learning Center has basic supplies and computer resources to aid students in completing projects and papers. The learning Center is open before school, during both lunches, and after school in L208.

AVID Program - The AVID Program supports AVID students in achieving academic success in the most challenging courses. AVID students are provided support in achieving admissions and success in the four year university of their choice.
