Sherry Millican

Sherry Millican is a native Texan who is glad to be coming back to the lone star state after a brief move to Oklahoma. She has a Bachelors degree in Vocal Performance from Texas State University and a Masters in Musical Theatre and Opera from Arizona State University.  She served as the Director of Choral Activities in Temple, TX for 8 years where she taught a variety of classes including Show Choir, Musical Theatre, Opera, Chorale and college Voice.  She also had a private studio from which she had 17 students place in the Texas All State Mixed and Women's Choir.  Her students consistently made superior ratings at contest and many have gone on to have professional music careers. 

 

Ms. Millican is a Lyric Soprano who has sung throughout the United States and in Germany.  She has had lead roles in various operas and musical theatre shows including The Marriage of Figaro, Dialogues of the Carmelites, Cosi fan Tutte, The Music Man, The Ballad of Baby Doe, Hansel and Gretel, and Amahl and the Night Visitors. She is a regular soloist with the Temple Symphony Orchestra, where she just performed a Schubert concert this summer.  She is also contracted to sing the soprano solos in Handel's Messiah this Christmas. She has been an active judge and clinician throughout the Central Texas area including judging Texas U.I.L. Solo and Ensemble competition for three years.  While in OK, Ms. Millican taught K-6 music at Townsend Elementary School as well as singing in a professional jazz group called "Jazzscape."

 

After filling in at the end of the 2008 school year, Ms. Millican took on the permanent role of Associate Choir Director in the summer of 2008.
