Subject Sampler Directions
1.
Open
My Computer, Teachers on May, may_web, mayww, your grade level folder, your
folder (if you have one). Right click
the mouse to make a pop-up window appear.
Select New, Folder. Name the
folder whatever you want to call your subject sampler. Do NOT put any spaces into the name. Close all windows.
2.
Follow
this link to view a subject sampler template from Region 20:
http://www.esc20.net/etprojects/templates/tsampler.html
3.
To
save this template, choose File, Save As.
Save the template into the new folder you just created. Give it a name that does not have any spaces
in it.
4.
Now,
open Netscape Composer. From the file
menu, choose open. Open the file you
just saved into your folder.
5.
Use
the template as a guide to create your subject sampler.
6.
You
can add more activities for your students to complete, since the template only
includes two.
7.
To
improve the subject sampler, you may want the students to complete a
summarizing activity at the end or write their own conclusion, rather than just
stating a conclusion for them.
8.
Add
background color, edit the font, or add graphics to improve the design of the
subject sampler. Remember that graphics
need to be saved into the Web page folder before you insert them into the
page.
9.
Be
sure to credit any sources, such as Region 20 or clipart sites, that you used
to create your Web page.
10. Save all of your changes.
11.
Open
your teacher Web page or grade level page in Netscape Composer. Create a link from that page to your subject
sampler.
12. Email your course instructor when your
subject sampler is finished.
