Our School
Robert F. McDermott Elementary School is located in the Northside Independent School District in San Antonio, Texas.

Our school opened in 1992. We have 47 classrooms housed in two buildings and an administrative office build around a courtyard where town meetings are held. In addition, we have a gymnasium and a cafeteria. Bradley Molina Architects, Inc. created the unique design of courtyards and towers.

General Robet F. McDermott, USAF, Ret.
General McDermott, our school's namesake, has been an educator, scholar, author, fighter pilot, and business leader. He was the first permanent Dean of Faculty at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He has served as the chairman and CEO of United Services Automobile Association, USAA.

Our school has a display case in the library area with a timeline and artifacts chronicaling his life and achievements.

General McDermott has come to visit us during town meetings. We were saddened at his passing in 2006.
