Northside Alternative High School

A Letter to Students

A Letter to Parents

To Students:

Let's face it, coming to Alternative High School is not a fun experience. There are no awards nor even words of praise for those students whose behavior has resulted in the experience of having to be sent to Alternative. Parents, teachers, and sometimes even students themselves feel disappointment, anger, and anxiety about having to attend our school. Alternative High School, though, isn't the end of the world for anybody. In fact, this school was designed as a kind of safety net--an alternative to expulsion. This school is a place where students can regroup after serious mistakes, take some time to think about academic goals, and then move on with a new perspective.

This web site outlines just some of the policies and procedures pertaining to student activities and responsibilities as set forth by the Board of Trustees of the Northside Independent School District. We ask you to read, understand, abide by the rules and regulations that are stated in your student handbook.

Good Luck,

Faculty & Staff

To Parents:

The home is the greatest influence upon your child during the early years of life; from these influences your child develops their first habits and obtains most of their ideals and attitudes. The influence of a good home cannot be duplicated in the school; therefore, it is most important that the home and school work together for the best development of your child.

Please make every effort to encourage your child to attend school regularly and to be on time. Failures are often attributed to irregular attendance, while tardiness tends to develop the wrong habits and attitudes toward life and responsibilities.

We look forward to working with you,

Faculty & Staff
