It was a busy week at NAHS! The Foreign Language, Family and Consumer Science, and Career and Technology classes collaborated on a project to research the history and legacy of Cinco de Mayo. Students researched the origin of Cinco de Mayo, analyzed the information they found, and created some fabulous artifacts based on their research: written evaluations, handcrafted pinatas, and delicious churros. Great job to our students and teachers on making another successful cross-curricular event happen.
The End-of-Course STAAR exams for Biology I, Algebra I, and U.S. History are next week, so it’s time to sharpen those pencils! Students currently enrolled or students who need to retest one of these content areas will test on the following days:
Biology I is Monday May 4th
U.S. History is Tuesday May 5th
Algebra I is Wednesday May 6th
All makeup exams for absent students will be Thursday, May 7th.
All students should try to be well-rested, have a good breakfast, and be at school on time. Students are encouraged to leave their electronic devices at home; however, if they are brought to school students will be asked to turn their devices over to the test administrators to avoid any disqualification of test scores.
Friday, April 17th NAHS students experienced a day of exploration, exchange of ideas, and sharing of food. A total of 65 students in Ms. Velebil’s World Geography classes, Mrs. Madsen’s English I classes, and Mrs. Hensley’s Culinary Arts classes all collaborated together to research and present their findings about different countries and cultures. The culture fair addressed a variety of World Geography, English I, and Culinary Arts TEKS. The hands-on nature of the event was engaging for the participants and other students who performed a gallery walk of the fair.
