NAHS is pleased to recognize Deborah Sanders for all of her hard work and dedication in helping our students exceed in Reading. Ms. Sanders works with students enrolled in Acheive3000, a program focusing on 100% nonfiction texts differentiated to 12 lexile levels with an emphasis on academics, vocabulary, critical thinking, and STEM. With Ms. Sanders commitment to her students and her diligence with implementing the program with fidelity, her students logged more than 97 program hours and completed more than 120 writing assignments. Students working with Ms. Sanders gained 67 points from their initial assessment to their final assessment. This exceeded the average gain seen across the district. Way to go Ms. Sanders!
Attendance at the NAHS is a critical factor in meeting school and district expectations for all students to be eligible to return to their designated home campus. NAHS is excited to share that our students are committed in demonstrating their responsibilty with attendance; NAHS students achieved 95% attendance for August 27th.

The Violence Prevention Program will begin Tuesday, September 23, 2014. The program will consist of a variety of guest speakers who will each deliver an important message to our students. Mr. Samuel Garcia, a veteran teacher at NAHS was recognized Thursday evening by NISD Community Partnerships for his tireless efforts facilitating the Violence Prevention Program. Mr. Garcia began the Violence Prevention Program over 15 years ago when he noticed a dangerous trend of a high number of students getting into serious trouble and going to jail. [Read more...]
