Students were asked to write a personal narrative about the people or experiences that have inspired to them to discover their own genius. The assignment arose from the opportunity to participate in Latin@Genius, a gathering of Hispanic MacArthur Grant Recipients. This award is commonly called a Genius Grant. This particular event was called, "Tell me a story, even if its true." At this event, the student were treated to the inspiring stories of several Macaturos, as they call themselves. The speakers included Sandra Cisneros, Baldemar Velazquez, and Rueben Martinez. Each told of their humble beginnings and of the events and people who inspired them to excel. We hope to keep adding the stories of our students as they discover the genius in themselves.
