Former students interested in taking the high school Exit Level TAKS or TAAS tests in March 2008 have until Jan. 25, 2008 to register to take the tests. Successful performance on the state-mandated Exit Level TAKS (Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills) or TAAS (Texas Assessment of Academic Skills) is required for students to receive a Texas high school diploma.
The retest will be administered at the Education Service Center, 1314 Hines Ave, on the following dates:
| Tuesday, March 4 | TAKS English Language Arts; TAAS Writing

Wednesday, March 5
| TAKS Mathematics; TAAS Mathematics
|
Thursday, March 6
| TAKS Science; TAAS Reading
|
Friday, March 7
| TAKS Social Studies

Former students may register online for the retest at
http://k12testing.tx.ncspearson.com or submit a paper registration. Registration packets are available at any Northside ISD high school or at the Testing & Evaluation Department, 5651 Grissom Road. The registration must be submitted online or returned in the pre-addressed envelope and be received in Austin, Texas, no later than 5 p.m., Jan. 25, 2008.
Former students may register to take the test at any of the testing sites in the state. Out-of-school examinees (former students) will not be tested at Northside high schools. The local testing site is the Education Service Center, and testing will begin at 8:30 a.m. Examinees must report at 8 a.m. and have a picture ID to take the test.
