This past spring, NISD Board of Trustee members approved the District's 2008-13 Strategic Planning document that was developed with the help of a 200-member Strategic Plan Advisory Committee (SPAC).
Beginning in January of this year, the SPAC met over a two-month period to look at the current priorities and objectives of the District and to decide the direction of the District for the next five years. The sub-committees developed priority statements and objectives in eight areas: budget and finance, communications, curriculum and instruction, facilities, human resources, safe and secure schools, school-business-family-community partnerships, and technology.
"As we complete the fifth year of our current five-year Strategic Plan, we realize how important the Strategic Plan is in guiding the future of our school district," Dr. John Folks, Superintendent said. The progress we have made with the implementation of the CMS system, many of the accomplishments in the technology area, the addition of security measures such as our camera surveillance system, and many other areas of improvement were led by our current Strategic Plan."
"Now we will build on what we accomplished and look toward the next five years," he added. "I want to thank the 200 individuals representing teachers, administrators, parents, community members, and business representatives, who gave of their time to help us chart a clear direction for the future.
The priorities and objectives for both the 2003-08 and 2008-13 Strategic Plan are available
