Northside ISD will observe "Education: Go Get It" the week of Oct. 6 with several initiatives that will educate middle and high school students about the importance of higher education.
All school districts and charter schools in Texas are required by state law to designate one week per school year as "Education: Go Get It" Week.
All middle and high schools across the District will host at least one public speaker this week to talk to students about the importance of pursuing a higher education.
In addition, schools will provide comprehensive, grade-appropriate information regarding available higher education options; standard admissions requirements and information on the Top Ten Percent Program; curriculum, GPA and test requirements; and financial aid.
During the week, NISD counselors, high school GO-Center technicians, and teachers will highlight the importance of higher education by:
- Presenting the "Texas Scholars" information to middle school students.
- Providing presentations that help students plan for college and understand the basics of admissions and financial aid
- Engaging in activities related to the NISD/Alamo Community Colleges "College Connection" program.
- Welcoming speakers from local colleges and universities to share information and answer questions
