Teacher and employee salaries approved for 2009-10 school year
NISD Communications Department
July 29, 2009
The Northside ISD Board of Trustees approved salaries for the 2009-10 school year Tuesday night, giving teachers, counselors, speech pathologists, nurses, and librarians a $955 raise, plus a 1.5 percent increase.
All other District employees will receive a 2 percent raise.
The NISD Board usually approves compensation in June each year. However, the decision was delayed this year because of uncertainty over whether the state could use federal stimulus funding to pay for employee pay raises.
The federal government recently approved the use the stimulus funding for school district pay raises.
Under the compensation package approved by the Board Tuesday, a beginning teacher with a bachelor's degree would earn $47,000, up from $45,250 last year. A beginning teacher with a master's degree would earn $48,100, up from $46,350.
The salary increase will be retroactive to July 1 and will be paid at end of August.
