Volunteers needed to give flu shots
NISD Communications Department
September 16, 2009
Northside ISD is seeking trained and licensed volunteers to administer flu shots to inoculate students against the H1N1 flu, also known as swine flu.
A flu vaccine for the H1N1 flu is expected to be ready for distribution within the next few weeks. The vaccine will be provided to school districts, which will be responsible for inoculating their students. However, school districts will not receive funding to cover the cost of administering the shots.
NISD currently is working with the San Antonio Metro Health District to select dates and locations for flu shot clinics. Clinics likely will be held on a weekend at a campus or District facility, but details are not confirmed at this time.
If you are trained and licensed to administer shots and are able to volunteer your time, please call NISD Health Services at (210) 397-3551 and provide your name and contact information. A representative from Health Services will be in touch with you as soon as more information is available about the times and locations of flu shot clinics.
