In recognition of Education: Go Get It Week, Beard ES held a door decorating contest and Career Day the week of October 5-9. The contest promoted how important it is for students to continue their education. Beard also had 53 speakers come and talk to students in grades kinder through fifth grade.
Neff MS participated in the national "Education: Go Get It" Week by hosting various speakers and programs in hopes of encouraging students to continue their education beyond high school. Sixteen guest speakers spoke to Neff eighth graders about their careers and college experiences. Students also participated in a hallway decorating contest, made college pennants, and researched "dream" colleges.

Nichols ES participated in its first Education: Go Get It! Week Hallway Decorating Contest where students created college graduation caps, art, essays, pennants, and various other projects displaying their college dreams and goals. Teachers and counselors also showed the importance of higher education by displaying their own colleges and universities outside their classrooms and taught lessons about goal-setting and dreaming big.
San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro and Superintendent John Folks visited Rayburn eighth graders Oct. 9. During the visit, which was arranged by the Rayburn Math Department, Mayor Castro talked about career awareness and college readiness. The visit landed on a great week because the school was celebrating Education: Go Get It Week!

During Wanke ES's Education: Go Get It Week, three University of Texas at San Antonio basketball players made a special visit. They talked to the students about the importance of staying in school and studying hard to earn good grades and how these skills will help students later in life.
