The Tuesday before Halloween, Forester Elementary School held its reading family night with a Halloween theme. Each session included the reading of a book and a fun activity related to the story. Because of the huge turnout of families, some sessions had to be repeated more than three times.
In between sessions, students had the opportunity to trick-or-treat through the halls from school namesake Nora Forester and staff members, who were all dressed as various famous book characters. Families were encouraged to dress in costumes for the fun event to get in the "Hallow-Read" spirit.
The family night was a huge success thanks to the Hallow-Read committee members, all Forester staff who stayed late to set up, participate, and clean-up; and Kathy Jordan, the school's reading specialist who coordinated the whole event.
