Northside ISD has announced the H1N1 vaccination schedule for remaining elementary and high schools.
A schedule of which schools will be offering vaccinations Jan. 19 to Feb. 5 is located on the District's flu information web site.
A letter is being sent to all parents of affected elementary schools and also is posted on the flu information web site. Parents must sign a permission slipand complete a questionnaire in order for their child to receive the vaccine. A letter and questionnaire for high school students will be posted at a later date.
Children 9 years of age and younger will need to receive a second shot roughly three to four weeks after receiving the first shot. Parents must turn in a second permission slip in order for their children to receive the second shot.
If a child 9 or younger receives a first dose at school but is unable to get the second dose, a parent can take the child to his or her physician to receive the second shot at a later date. The vaccine still will be effective even if more than four weeks have passed between the first and second shots, said Don Schmidt, Assistant Superintendent for Student, Family & Community Services.
The District will release a vaccination schedule for the second round of elementary school shots (for students 9 and under) next month.
