The Governor has proclaimed January as School Board Recognition Month to build awareness and understanding of the vital function an elected
Board of Trustees plays in our communities.
Northside ISD is joining with districts throughout the state to thank Board members for caring about the future of every child enrolled in our public schools.
Superintendent John Folks said that even though the District is making a special effort in January to show appreciation to Board members, their work takes a year-round commitment.
"These public servants are elected to serve by local citizens and receive no compensation for their tireless efforts," he said. "Board members are extraordinary people who voluntarily tackle the enormous job of governing school districts. Their actions and decisions affect the present and future lives of all our children."
Serving on the Northside ISD Board are:
M'Lissa M. Chumbley, District 3, President;
Karen Freeman, District 7, Vice President;
George Lynn Britton, Jr., District 1, Secretary;
Annie L. Holmes, District 2;
Robert (Bobby) Blount, Jr., District 4;
Katie N. Reed, District 5; and
Randall H. (Randy) Fields, District 6.
NISD Trustees will receive special recognition during the next regular Board meeting, Jan. 19, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Northside Activity Center, Loop 410 and Culebra Road.
