Clark High School journalism students garnered many awards at the JEA/National Scholastic Press Association's annual conference including a Best of Show (1st place) for The Chronicle newspaper, and an 8th place for The Witness yearbook. There were 6,000 delegates from across the nation, South Korea, and England participating.
Holmes High School was awarded Gold Medalist, the top ranking given nationally by Columbia University's Scholastic Press Association, for last year's edition of The Gavel and the accompanying e-news. Additionally, the staff earned All-Columbian honors in the areas of coverage, writing and editing, and business operations, achieving point totals in these categories in the 95th percentile or higher.
The Stevens High School journalism program recently received four awards of honor from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association and the National Scholastic Press Association. The Talon, the campus newspaper, was awarded the Columbia Gold Medalist Certificate for its 2008-2009 publications. The yearbook, Tradition, received the Columbia Silver Medalist Certificate. The newspaper and the yearbook also earned "First Class" from the National Scholastic Press Association, the top honor given by the organization's judges.
