Throughout the year, nearly 250 Northside ISD school counselors make the social, emotional, academic, and career guidance of students their No. 1 priority.
Their unique contributions to schools and students are being recognized during National School Counseling Week, which this year is Feb. 1-5. Sponsored by the American School Counselor Association, National School Counseling Week highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career.
"School counselors are a critical factor in the cultivation of safe, strong and well-prepared community," said Dr. Deborah Healy, Director of NISD's Guidance Department. "I am so proud of the work they do with the students in NISD!"
NISD school counselors have contact with all 91,578 students in the District through classroom presentations and individual visits to help guide students in course selection, maximizing educational opportunities, and developing skills for future success.
