Stan Laing, currently the Principal of Tom C. Clark High School, has been named the Executive Director of Athletics for Northside ISD. He succeeds George Short who is retiring this month.

Laing, a 25-year educator, has served as a teacher, coach and high school administrator. He has been the principal at Clark High School since 2006.

He takes over a program that oversees thousands of athletes in 11 high schools and 18 middle schools, as well as a coaching force of hundreds of coaches.

The new athletic executive director is a graduate of McMurray University in Abilene, TX where he earned his bachelor's degree. He also earned his master's degree from Texas A&M University at Kingsville.

"I look forward to serving the students of Northside ISD in this new capacity," says Laing. "In my heart, I believe that students are well served by the right balance of extra-curricular activities such as sports and a strong academic foundation. Together they become the right recipe for students' success in life and as contributing members of American society," he adds.
