Adriano Gonzalez, a science teacher at Holmes/Business Careers HS, received the High School Ernest and Sarah Butler Award for Excellence in Science Teaching from the Texas Medical Association (TMA).
This award honors teachers who share their energy and enthusiasm for science through creative and innovative methods. TMA created the award in 1990 to reward excellent science teaching in hopes it would encourage young students to become physicians.
In the past year, in addition to this award, Gonzalez has received the Texas Exes Award, Outstanding Texas Academic Decathlon Coach Award, and was named an H-E-B Excellence in Education Award finalist.
