FCCLA state winners recognized

Family Career Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) students from Holmes, Jay, and Stevens high schools received state honors in three events.

For the STAR Events Hospitality Award, a three-student team was challenged to problem solve a hospitality event. The team from Holmes placed second in state and each student received a scholarship to Johnson and Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island. Instructor is Janie Bradley.

The Recycle Redesign Event involved students recycling materials into new, original designs. Instructors are Deborah Sparks and Erin Black.

In the Teach and Train Senior Level Event, students created lesson plans and presented the lesson in an oral presentation. Instructor is Erin Black.

FCCLA helps students expand their leadership potential and develop skills through planning, goal setting, problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal communication. Through competition, students strengthen their creative, critical thinking and vocational skills.
