Nathaniel Mortel, senior Technical Theatre student at Stevens High School, is the first state qualifier in Northside for the UIL Technical Design Contest. His design of Phantom of the Opera will now be critiqued by a panel of state judges for award placement this summer. State qualifiers' designs will also be displayed at this year's Texas Educational Theatre Conference in Dallas.
Theatre instructors are Jose DeHoyos and Jennifer Friedrich.
