Hello, My name is Jack Funkhouser

Many of your children may recognize me, because I have returned to Nichols Elementary after working for Northisde Technology Services as a Training and Development Analyst for the past two years. It's always good to come home again. 

For the past 13 years I have been teaching in one role or another. 1994 was my first year teaching as a fifth grade teacher at Knowlton Elementary. Mathematics and problem solving are among my strengths, so during my fifth year at Knowlton I worked as a math specialist. Teaching mathematics is the best, but I was also good with technology and Knowlton needed a Campus Instructional Technologist(CIT) so that's what I did next. After  two years as a CIT at Knowlton my wife was reassigned to the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs Colorado. I finished my Masters and followed on  in June. It didn't take long for Deb, my wife, to suggest that San Antonio was a nice place to live, which brought me to Nichols Elementary as the first CIT. After two years I moved on to a district position with technology services. 

While working for Technology Services I completed my Principalship Certification through Texas A&M Kingsville. Now, I'm back where I belong, on a campus and with students. 

I feel fortunate to be a part of such a wonderful school that "Dreams, Believes, and Achieves!" Go Mustangs!
