Nichols Guidance Department
The Nichols Elementary Guidance Program is
a developmental educational program designed to help students acquire skills
necessary for a healthy development. These skills are taught during regularly
guidance classes. Some of the topics addressed during classroom guidance
are: Self-Confidence Development, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Cross-Cultural,
Decision-Making and Problem Solving, Motivation to Achieve, Communication
Skills, and Responsible Behavior.
In addition to classroom guidance, counselors
meet with students individually, provide small support groups and teach
parenting classes once a month- please look at "upcoming events". Consulting
with teachers and parents regarding concerns about their children is also
one of the counselors' responsibilities. Nichols counselors look forward
to working with you and your child and welcome the opportunity to offer
our support so that you and your child have a successful school year. Please
do not hesitate to call or email Laura Donnel or Sandra Cervantes with
your concerns or questions at 397-4050 or lauradonnel@nisd.net and sandracervantes@nisd.net.
