Shirley Thompson - Principal

Hello, My name is Shirley Thompson and I am proud and excited to be the Principal at Northwest Crossing Elementary.  This is my second year as Principal of NWC and my 6 th year in Administration. Wow, time flies when you're having fun! 

Texas is my home away from home.  I was born in Springfield , Missouri and grew up in St. Louis , Missouri .  I received my Bachelor of Science 
in Education from the University of Missouri ,  my Masters of Arts in Education from Webster College , and my Administrative Certification from Texas A&M Kingsville.  My teaching experience includes being a classroom teacher and G/T Gifted and Talented teacher K-5.

My goal as an administrator is to create a safe, enriching, and positive environment where staff and parents work together to guide and support students in their efforts to achieve academic excellence.  To help achieve this goal, I participate in staff development opportunities, attend professional meetings / conferences, and work collaboratively with students, teachers, parents and community members to help ensure that "No Child is Left Behind."  We believe that the combined efforts of the school, home and community can create optimal learning experiences for our students. This cooperation and hard work helped us to achieve our recognized rating. 

When I'm not "Reaching for the Exemplary Stars" at Northwest Crossing, I enjoy spending time with my family, playing tug with our Lhasa Apso, "Cullie", reading, traveling, and visiting with friends.
