A medical officer at the U.S. Center for Diseases Control in Atlanta, Dr. Harper is a commander in the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service and has served on a hospital ship in Africa, in the jungles of Northern Cambodia, and as lead epidemic intelligence officer for the Ugandan Ebola Outbreak 2000. One of the nation’s foremost experts on SARS, Anthrax, and Avian Flu virus, 2005-06 finds him in New York City as CDC’s lead bioterrorism response officer. As a freshman at Marshall High School, he won the grand prize at Texas Junior Academy of Science and by senior year had become drum major and “Best All-round student.”
