Explain briefly:  Students are using multiple sources to analyze different types of poetry. After applying what they have learned they are developing their own poetry using the appropriate poetry framework.  Using a wide variety of intelligence and learning style  choices, students are presenting their own created poetry and evaluating their own work as well as that of their peers.

 

 

 


 

Lesson Implementation

[kt5] Instructional Strategies:

 

1.  Students will explore 5 different types of poetry using hot links off of the project webpage.

2.  After analyzing and discussing each type of poetry, students will construct their own following the individual poetry framework.

8.        

3.  After they have created their own poems, students will develop a powerpoint presentation using a variety of both required and optional learning styles and intelligences

9.        

4.  Before submitting their presentation, students will evaluate their product both holistically and against a rubric.

10.      

5.  During the presentations, students will evaluate the work of their peers holistically.

11.      

6.  (Optional) Students who finish early can design and make a CD label  and burn the presentation on to a CD.

12.      

 

[kt6] Accommodation/Modification Options:  Students can work either independently or as a group.  Scriptors and or peer tutors can be assigned to special needs students.  Extended time can be given to those needing it.  For those able, students could animate their own clip art withing the presentation.

 

 

Prerequisite Student Skills:  Students should be trained in all aspects of PowerPoint.

 

 

Time Frame (Example:  45 minutes, 2 hours, ongoing all year): 5- 1 hour sessions for the presentation. (Optional) 1- 1hour session for the CD label
