Lesson Focus: Rainbows

 

 

[kt1] Learning Objectives (Content & Technology):  Students will use the drawing tools in kid pix to make a correctly drawn color spectrum in the form of a rainbow.  They will then, according to their developmental level, use dictation or emergent writing to label the different rainbow components and then write about their own favorite color and tell why.

Explain briefly:  Students will use a variety of activities within the classroom and in the lab to demonstrate their knowledge and comprehension of the prism and rainbow (color spectrum.)  They will also demonstrate their communication skills by dictating or writing their preference of colors and why.

[kt6] Accommodation/Modification Options:  According to their developmental needs, students can either dictate or write using emergent spellings to label and write about the rainbow and colors. 

 

 

Prerequisite Student Skills:  Students should know how to use the draw tools and text box functions of Kid Pix

 

 

Time Frame (Example:  45 minutes, 2 hours, ongoing all year): 1 session of 1 hour.
