The ELVIS Project Checks Out its First DVD Player

The ELVIS Project, ESL Language Videos Instructing Students, has checked out its first portable dvd player to kindergarten student, Manvir. One important part of the project is to insure that every ESL student has access to the vast array of ESL videos developed by teachers and students at Rhodes Elementary. Manvir has taken his dvd player home and is practicing his English using dvds burned at Rhodes Elementary.He is shown here with his brother, Ricky, and Pam Albrecht, CIT. Rhodes PTA Membership Drive Comes to a Close!

The Rhodes PTA membership drive ended Ocotber 6th. At that time, we had 268 members. The contest promised an ice cream for each student in the class with the most members joined per grade level (50% minimum.) Classes that had the most members join from each grade level are Townsend's kindergarten class with 88%, Cerda's second grade with 67%, Valdez' third grade with 67%, Adams 4th grade with 65%, and Mrs. Garcia's 5th grade who had 100% joining. Because they reached the 100% mark, Mrs. Garcia's class also earned a new board game for their classroom.
