Texas High School Project Exemplar Program

In July 2009, the Texas High School Project (THSP) selected Jay Science and Engineering Academy to participate in the THSP Exemplar Grant Program. The Exemplar Program is designed to be a key component of the Texas High School Project, a public-private initiative committed to increasing graduation rates and college enrollment rates in every Texas community. THSP is dedicated to ensuring that all Texas students leave high school prepared for college and career success in the 21 st century economy. THSP partners include the Governor's Office, Texas Education Agency, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, the Communities Foundation of Texas, the greater Texas Foundation, educators and others.

As a participant, SEA receives a grant award of $51,000 for its highly successful programs and practices that achieve rigor, create relevance, and enhance personal relationships with students and educators. The funds will be used to upgrade technology. The Science and Engineering Academy will also host other schools and organizations interested in replicating its highly successful program.
