Professional Development Appraisal System (P.D.A.S.) - Orientation
Professional Development and Appraisal System (P.D.A.S.) Orientation is a state required training for all teachers. You will learn how the P.D.A.S. system is used for appraising teachers in Northside. Participants are to bring a 3-ring binder.
It provides an opportunity for teachers to ask clarifying questions after the formal district-level training.
It provides the adminstration an opportunity to delineate specific campus goals in regards to instruction and teacher conduct.
It is required to fulfill the state requirement for completion of P.D.A.S. training.
The following are examples of topics to be discussed during that one hour:
Since technology availability and usage varies from campus to campus, the administrators can explain how they judge technology use for P.D.A.S. purposes.
Administrators can give specific feedback and answer questions in regards to completing the Teacher Self-Report. A blank copy of the Teacher Self-Report can be downloaded from the P.D.A.S. Forms page.
Administrators can clarify their expectations for collecting data that can be used as other documented sources in the P.D.A.S. evaluation process.
Specific campus initiatives and how they are linked to P.D.A.S. can be discussed. For example, if the campus has just finished a school-wide staff development on brain compatible strategies, the administration can explain specific domains in which they will be looking for those strategies to be used.
General procedural information can be discussed. Items might include how many times a teacher will be observed, who will be assigned to observe each teacher, how a teacher will know that he/she is going to be observed, etc.
